Have a Holly, Jolly, Holiday Time in Houston!

December in Houston is one of our favorite times of the year. We may not get heavy snowfalls, but it’s truly a magical time filled with great performances, parades, and festivals. If you’re in town for the holidays, or a local that’s looking for some festive plans, read on for some great ideas on holiday events in Houston!

A Christmas Carol- A Ghost Story of Christmas
Returning this year to the Alley TheatreA Christmas Carol- A Ghost Story of Christmas is a classic that is loved by many. The story follows Ebenezer Scrooge’s journey through time with the three Christmas ghosts. We’ve heard great things about the cast, and that it is an artistic experience you won’t want to miss! The performance will run through December 30th.

Houston’s Ballet The Nutcracker
Who doesn’t love the tale of Clara and her Nutcracker prince? Stanton Welch’s production of The Nutcracker will be performed December 3-10th and December 30- January 6th. Due to the damage of the Wortham Center from Hurricane Harvey, the holiday ballet will be presented at The Smart Financial Center in Sugar Land and The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown Houston.

Festival of Lights
This festival of lights has been going on since mid November, but it’s still a wonderful event to see until January 7th! The Festival of Lights is hosted by Moody Gardens, and is the largest lighting event in the state! It features a 100-foot slide, ice skating, and a mile-long trail of lights and 100 sound-enhanced animated displays. Tell me that doesn’t sound like fun time with your family and friends!

Tomball German Christmas Market & Festival
Christmas markets are some of the best places to be during the holiday season, and you have the opportunity to go to one of the best starting December 8-10. Celebrate with some mulled wine and bratwurst in the old downtown streets of Tomball, Texas. There will be live musical performances, kids games, street performers, and more! The event is free, so come on down and see what this German tradition has to offer!

These are just some of the many events that our grand city of Houston has to offer this holiday season. We at the Camberg Law Firm wish you a safe and happy holiday season, and we hope to see you out and about with festive cheer!

Flood Relief: What Comes Next

Houstonians know the fear, pain, and loss that occurs after a natural disaster. Hurricane Harvey has passed, but has left its mark indefinitely on our community. As we begin to rebuild our lives and our city in the coming weeks and months, it’s extremely important that you know the next steps, and more importantly, your rights when it comes to flood damage. I’ve Just Been in a Flood- What Do I Do Now? There are several  safety precautions  that must be taken in order to move forward after a flood. Ideally, you should not return to your home until authorities have deemed it safe, and a qualified electrician should assess your home in case of any detrimental damage to your main electrical panel. After you’re given clearance, use extreme caution when entering your home, and check the foundation to make sure that the walls are still sturdy and safe. The flood water can be heavily contaminated with sewage and other pollutants, which can cause sickness and infections. It’s of th

Honor A Great Man and Attend the MLK Grande Parade

In today’s world filled with constant chaos and turmoil, greatness and exceptional character need to be celebrated. History has shown us examples of how to get through troubling times. Some incredible figures have taught us that oppression and injustice do not have to be tolerated. While we could easily name hundreds of people who have made a positive impression on culture and what it values, there is one that no one could dispute: Martin Luther King, Jr. He was a man that constantly fought for equality, but he didn’t fight with weapons, his battle was fought with love, kind words, and peace. While his example is one we should honor every day, in just a few short weeks, we will pay his memory and his message special homage. The annual MLK Grande Parade in the heart of Houston is a weekend filled with exciting events that appropriately honor Martin Luther King, Jr. The event kicks off on Saturday, January 13th at 12:00 pm with the 12th Annual MLK Youth Parade. Expected to attra
